WE ALL WORK TOGETHER WITH A WIGGLE AND A GIGGLE This week we began clearing the gardens for fall. Seeds were harvested, and placed into the seed-packet work on our botany shelf. Every year we like to count the seeds from one sunflower head. We made estimates. Some people thought 100, some thought as many as a million. However, after a very stringent counting process we determined that there were 1075 seeds in just one head! Pretty amazing...the birds love 'em.
Annie and Julia remove seeds from the head.
Digging potatoes! We moved out spring compost, which is now good, black gold, into our garden beds. Then we added some good Koopman horse manure.

Mrs. Usher reads the story of Noah on his birthday. How did Noah get so big?
Noah in his crown that his friends made. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH...WE LOVE YOU!!! Miss Heather made a beautiful mussel classification work, and a "parts of the apple" work. We are still enjoying various apple activities. Our applesauce was delicious. FIRST WE WASH THE APPLES

Jackson operates the apple-peeling machine.
Julia mails a thank you note to Wolfe Orchard for providing us with apples.
Sarah finishing a Klee-inspired painting On our Friday walk we noticed that painters are working on the Hutson house. They had very tall ladders called extension ladders. We talked to several people from our neighborhood, including Mrs. Corrie. Her sons came to Metamorphosis many years ago. Mrs. Corrie is a stained-glass artist. We saw our neighbor John clear up town at the library. We saw a cat in a window. We looked at the Depot and the Post Office . We liked the view from the old bridge. The creek had litter. We did not like that!
There are many pairs of shoes in the lost-and-found in the office. A few children were absent with fevers this week. THANKS to Cheri Wolter-Harris for pulling out Mrs. Corman's vine! We can see better now when we are exiting the driveway.
