WEEK OF JANUARY 8

Everyone is excited about our new science shelf. We have illustrated the development of life on Earth with concrete examples. The top or display part of the shelf features examples of early life, such as bacteria and algae. The display continues from left to right with sea sponges, mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, insects and arachnids, fish, amphibians and reptiles, birds and mammals. We have featured animal and plant representations including a snail, two hermit crabs, a fish, a habitat of crickets, an anole (lizard), a parakeet and a hamster. The children love this expanded area! Come by and see how beautiful it is!

Ben is sketching "something organic" from the science shelf.

Alex is tonging very sparkly pom-poms into a small ice cube tray.

IT'S BENJAMIN'S BIRTHDAY!!!

Ben's mom and dad and sister came to tell his story.

Benjamin is making his walk around the sun.

Ben is now four years old! He brought his favorite lemon poppyseed muffins to share with his friends. Thanks to Ben and his family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BENJAMIN! WE LOVE YOU!

Julia completed the 45 layout!

Tommy had his first day of school! Welcome Thomas!

Older children are focusing on our state of Illinois. We are all looking at mollusks and crustaceans. We love to give our hermit crabs their salt water bath. We rock the tub so they will think they are in the ocean.

Annie uses "face-washing" from the personal care shelf.

Ben is working on desert biome.

Gracie tries the squaring chain of five.

"LEAF"

BY NOAH

We have introduced the recipe for baking custard in kindergarten. The egg is what thickens our pudding! We bake them in tiny ramekins and can share with three friends. We love the cinnamon.
