HIP HIP HOORAY FOR SNOW!
This class is a pleasure. It is wonderful to see the kindergarten children grow into leadership roles. They were so little. Now they concentrate, and courteously help younger children. All of them are industrious. They love the 45 layout! We have enjoyed the book, "The Mitten Tree" and have looked at mittens from around the world. Everyone's favorites are the mittens from Afghanistan.
We've continued to look at houses and peoples of all cultures. This month we looked at some beautiful Jewish traditions, and talked of Hanukkah. We passed our bronze menorah. We made potato latkes. We listened and danced to Klezmer music.
Miss Heather made math cards with Hick-Pick's picture on them. We love them.
Annie punched the countries of North America by hand. It takes a long time!

Miss Heather shared a beautiful, hand-painted matreshka with us. She also made this parts of the matreshka work for us. She loves us doesn't she?

A JEWISH CHILDREN'S SONG: "COME AND DANCE WITH ME"
Children have been fascinated by the process of millefiore beads in the studio. Mim brings in some glass millefiore to share, and children learn to produce clay ones that we bake. Few things hold their attention like Sculpey clay!

IT WAS GRACIE'S BIRTHDAY. GRACIE'S FAMILY: MICHAEL, ANGIE, DALY, GRACE AND GARETT HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRACIE! WE CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE SIX! WE LOVE YOU!
IT WAS SIMON'S BIRTHDAY. SIMON'S FAMILY: RANDY, SIMONE, GEOFFREY AND SIMON (AND CHAR) HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIMON! WE LOVE YOU!
Now we are beginning the introduction of the Christmas holiday as part of our cultural experiences. Christmas is a Christian holiday, and the tree came from early festivals which celebrated the winter solstice.
